2 photo essays · Sarakadee Magazine
Issue 477 · December 2024

Two photo essays from the 19th Sarakadee Documentary Photography Camp, made in pairs — a photographer working alongside a writer — and published online and in the magazine's December 2024 print edition. Documentary work is decided by its first and last frame: the opener has to be beautiful enough to pull a reader in, the closer has to say what the whole story was about. Everything between is patience.

Thai Vajrayana Buddhismพุทธวัชรยานไทย

Issue 477 · December 2024 · pp. 104–117
All photographs · shot alongside a writer

"Beneath the Spirit of the Yogis" — days inside Thailand's small Vajrayana community, following the lunar calendar from the first waxing night: ten thousand lamps offered to Amitabha, an unfinished stupa standing over the fields at Khadiravana, lay practitioners in maroon robes, the smoke of a ritual at dusk. A demanding shoot — the light was whatever the rooms and the hours gave: candle flame, overcast, a single window. Street instincts — timing, geometry, waiting for the figure to land — carried over, but bent to serve the story rather than the frame. The opening and closing images were planned first; everything else was earned in between.

One spread of a group feature by the camp team

A feature on Uthai Thani, a river town where people seem to live well and grow old well. My spread follows Sinthuchai Phunkaew — once a ranger and a well-known boxer, now one of the last people living on a wooden raft house on the Sakae Krang — setting his fish trap in the morning, rowing the boat he still uses every day, the old fight photograph that hangs on his wall. Shot in a single visit, with the writer beside me; the rest of the feature was photographed by the camp team.

Photographic Installation
25 July – 27 September 2026
MMAD, MunMun Srinakarin

A large-scale group installation where hundreds of photographers' work is shown together as a single wall. The contribution came from ongoing street and coastal work — images that hold up individually but were made to sit inside a much larger collective picture.

Selected as one of 20 finalists from over 200 submissions to an open-call exhibition. The work shown was a set of street photographs made in and around Bangkok — flat colour, hard geometry, and small human figures inside large surfaces.

About

Hello, I'm Ohm

A Communication Arts graduate (Film major) from Silpakorn University, working as a freelance Director of Photography and photographer.

My work moves between documentary, commercial and narrative — from a feature documentary for beIN Sports to an iPhone-shot campaign for Apple Thailand, to street photography published in Sarakadee Magazine.

I shoot with a documentary instinct and light with cinematic intent. Whether it's a handheld interview or a controlled set, the goal is the same: images that hold attention and mean something.
